Lewis Hamilton to stay in Enzo Ferrari’s home when he’s in Maranello, first driver to do so since Michael Schumacher: Reports
Following his switch to Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton will have the privilege of staying in Enzo Ferrari’s house during his stay at Maranello. This will be the first time Ferrari would allow a driver to stay at the Ferrari founder’s home in the Modena province since Michael Schumacher.
The seven-time world champion signed a multi-year contract with the Prancing Horse and is all set to move to the Maranello-based team at the end of this season.
Hamilton, a long-standing Mercedes faithful, has decided to part ways with the Silver Arrows earlier this year. Despite signing a one-plus-one-year contract with Toto Wolff’s team in 2023, he changed his mind to switch allegiance after 12 long years.
According to Carla Vanzini of Sky Sports Italy, Hamilton will get to stay at Enzo Ferrari’s house at Fiorano, whenever he will be at and around Maranello. Maranello is the base for Scuderia Ferrari, and as a driver, Hamilton is expected to remain in the Province of Modena for a significant amount of time.
“Since Schumacher, no other driver has had this privilege,” Vanzini of Sky Sports Italy wrote, as per deni on X. “Hamilton will stay, whenever he’s in Fiorano, at Enzo Ferrari’s house [in the track area]. So he won’t be seen much around Maranello.”
Lewis Hamilton will join under team principal Fred Vasseur, race alongside Charles Leclerc next season, and replace Williams-bound Carlos Sainz.
Ahead of his switch to Ferrari next season, Lewis Hamilton termed the move as his “childhood dream.” The seven-time world champion will join the Italian team in 2025, and it will see the most successful driver joining the most successful team in F1.
“Of course, I think for every driver growing up, watching the history, watching Michael Schumacher in his prime, I think probably all of us sit in our garage and see the screen pop up, and you see the driver in the red cockpit and you wonder what it would be like to be surrounded by the red,” Hamilton said.
“You go to the Italian Grand Prix, and you see the sea of red Ferrari fans, and you can only stand in awe of that. It’s a team that’s not had huge success recently, since 2007, and I saw it as a huge challenge. Without a doubt, even as a kid, I used to play [on games] as Michael in that car, so it definitely is a dream and I’m really, really excited about it,” he added.
Hamilton joined Mercedes in 2013 from McLaren. During his stay with the Silver Arrows, he claimed six out of his seven F1 titles and helped the German team claim eight Constructors’ Championships. Mercedes have signed Kimi Antonelli as Hamilton’s successor.
