Shakari Richardson overtook Julian Alfred in the final stride to win the 100 meters in his first post-Olympic race at the Diamond League in Zurich, Switzerland.

Richardson, the Olympic 100 meters silver medalist, clocked 10.84 seconds on a rain-soaked track, beating Olympic champion Alfred of St. Lucia by four hundredths of a second. “Probably the most fun race I’ve had all season,” Richardson said. “I took this time after the Olympics to come back, regroup and show everyone the Shakari Richardson you know.”

Alfred won the Paris Games with 10.72 points, beating Richardson’s 10.87 in August. Richardson set a world-best time of 10.71 seconds at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials.

Also on Thursday, Grant Holloway won the 110-meter hurdles in 12.99 seconds, breaking a tie with 1996 Olympic champion Allen Johnson for the most sub-13-second race ever. Holloway and Johnson have tied 11 times and trailed 13 times.

In the men’s 1,500 meters, Olympic bronze medalist Yared Nugse overtook Tokyo Olympic champion Jacob Ingebrigtsen in the final 100 meters to win in 3 minutes 29.21 seconds. Ingebrigtsen clocked 3:29.52 to beat Paris Olympic champion Cole Hawker (3:30.46).

In the 200 metres, Botswana’s Lesil Tebogo beat America’s Kenny Bednarek, 19:55 to 19:57, to win a double Olympic gold medal. Bednarek has lowered his personal record.

Kenya’s Olympic champion Beatristybet took 5000 m to 14: 09.52 that the seventh was the seventh in history. Ryan Cruiser has won the Diamond Legress twice in a row and has begun 22.66 meters. Next week, the cruiser will be in the second season of the Diamond League. The Diamond League season will conclude next week with the Diamond League Final in Brussels on September 13 and 14. The Final will be broadcast live on Peacock.
