She broke the old record of 11.50 seconds set by J Shanti on May 7 in Kuala Lumpur.
For reference, Zaidatul Husnia had beaten Shanti’s record in 2017 with a time of 11.36 seconds, but the time was disallowed due to wind conditions. Meanwhile, Zaidatul Husnia said that age is not a barrier for her to prove that she is still healthy.
The desire and motivation to continue to show up for the country.
“For me, it’s been a lot of hard work. The important thing is not to be satisfied that at this age I’ve been able to do something.
I want to achieve this kind of time. I prove that age is not the factor that can make us fall.
“I wanted to prove that without hard work we will not get what we want, I just kept running,
I just enjoyed it, I didn’t expect to be able to record such a time,” she told reporters today. She also hoped that the support provided would not only be directed towards her but towards her fellow athletes too.
Meanwhile, National Sprint Coach Mohd Poad Med Kassim said,
It was expected result of Zaidatul Husnia’s success and the country’s sprinter Zaidatul Husnia showed the potential to break the national record during training. “I would like to thank Zaydatur for breaking the national record. I would also like to thank Zaydatur’s teammates who trained with me, without whom Zaydatur might not have achieved such a good time,” he told Bernama. Mohd Poad added that Zaidatul is preparing for the Southeast Asian Games and has his sights set on his next goal.
