Congratulations, Tiger Woods just got a new car after his initial car accident scars, which will make you appreciate his legendary tenacity even more.
Tiger Woods failed to qualify for the Open Championship on Friday, capping off another disappointing season. But on Monday, he showed something that made golf fans even more grateful that he’s still playing. Woods is walking around Oakland Hills Country Club chasing his son Charlie, who is playing in his first U.S. Junior Amateur Championship. But while we’ve seen him chase the 15-year-old, this is the first time the 15-time major champion has been out of a cast on his leg since recovering from a February 2021 car accident. On that fateful day, Woods’ right leg was crushed by an open fracture. So much so that, he says, doctors nearly had to amputate it. \ “There was a time when I didn’t say it was 50/50, but next to it was going to leave the hospital on my feet, Woods said in an interview with a digest golf in November.
So, yes, it’s very surprising that Tiger has recently lost it at several events. And the scars from his many surgeries, photographed Monday, will make that even more obvious. See for yourself. Woods will be the last person to apologize for his poor games after the 79 and 77 cycles in the Royaltoon, but we will do one for him after seeing it. The man is far from 100 %, and unfortunately he never happens. So while most people look at his season in terms of him qualifying for just one major, we tend to think it was more surprising that he qualified at Augusta in April, which also broke the record for consecutive qualifications for majors and the Masters. That’s a real aspiration. After the Open, Woods, 48, said he wouldn’t play until December at his Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas and then with Charlie at the PNC Championship. However he plays, golf fans should be happy — and grateful — that he’s playing.
