Luke Littleler has comfortably beaten Michael Smith with a score of 11-4 to claim his first finals of Darts World Series in Amsterdam.
The teenager recovered after the loss of the first two legs to participate in 7-3 competitions at the interval. Little, 17, has found his form again since returning to the Ottawa to win the tournament with an average score of 102.21 and take home the £80,000 prize.
The Englishman also went on to beat local favourite Michael van Gerwen 11-4 in the semi-final. Littler, who started the day with a quarter-final win over Chris Dobby, claimed his third World Series title, following previous victories in Bahrain and Poland this year.
He also won the Premier League Darts title in May, defeating Luke Humphries to avenge his loss in the World Championship final. “I’m very happy to win. It feels good to come here and win my first game. “I’m playing well so I’m going to go home and practice a bit more. There’s no time to sit around, a busy winter is coming up. “Everyone wants to win everything, but I realized it was impossible. I would like to win another big [title]. I want the World Cup as much as anyone, but another major tournament means the world.
When asked if he is the best player in the world right now, Littler replied: “Probably this weekend.
“To average 103 after four or five games is really impressive and I’m really proud of myself.”
