LIV Golf fans surprised as 13-time tour winner confirms he’s only been picked as a reserve for 2025 season
LIV Golf 2025 is now rapidly approaching, with the start of the new season of the breakaway tour less than a month away.

LIV Golf Adelaide and LIV Golf Hong Kong follow in the calendar, with Michigan hosting this year’s Team Championship.
The PGA Tour’s rival has reportedly been making big moves ahead of the new season, with Tom McKibbin set to join Legion XIII.
Northern Irish youngster McKibbin, whose idol is Rory McIlroy, has only just secured a PGA Tour card for the 2025 season.
LIV Golf fans surprised as John Catlin named reserve for 2025 season
It would certainly represent a shock to the system, although LIV Golf fans have already been handed a surprise for the new season after John Catlin confirmed his reserve spot on X.
One fan was certain of Catlin’s place on the tour, having noted: “Shocked to hear that you are still a reserve after your resurgence over the last couple of years. Keep playing well and your time will come soon enough!”

Catlin was a reserve for the 2024 LIV Golf season, where he was joined by Ben Campbell, Laurie Canter, Luis Carrera and Wade Ormsby.
But despite plenty of success on the course in recent times, the American has failed to fully make the step up to the big leagues once more.
Catlin, 34, boasts 13 professional wins, including three on the European Tour, while he finished T16 at The Open Championship at Royal Troon in July.

But he did manage four LIV Golf appearances in 2024, filling in for Charles Howell III, Graeme McDowell and Rahm at Houston, Greenbrier and Dallas respectively.
It remains to be seen how many 2025 call-ups will go the way of Catlin, who should be disappointed to have only been picked as a reserve once again given his recent achievements.
